From the Standard site:

We make a big deal about around here about the Legacy of SBC, the style, the products, the people. Sometimes things move so fast in the production phase that the steps we take forward aren’t always set out on front street for all to see. We just move forward and do what we do best, that’s Standard.

So, to remove some of the mystery behind the process, we bring you the first step in prototyping a new project, The Juke. Maybe it starts with an idea, or an email, many phone calls some napkin sketches, then it evolves into a real living and breathing project. They all dont come together from concept to finished product like this, but spend some time and read what Rick and Tazz Hernandez have to say about the new Juke Project.

“The JUKE frame is a little collaboration between Tazz Hernandez and myself. It is all about the fun of riding. Keeping it simple. He wanted a simple, strong, all around nice frame. There will be some small changes for production as we move forward but basically this prototype is real close.”

-Rick

“I’ll start off like this… Standard is the best, period. I can’t put into words how it feels to be a part of something with so much history behind the only passion I have in life. I believe I have a solid view of what bike riding should be, and that’s 100% pure fun. I know a lot of people say that, but it never really matters what you say, just what you do. I just called it Juke. A 100% pure fun lifestyle. Expect everything in life and be happy that you’re living it. Juke is Standard, Eye/AVE, and Tree & Leaf Clothing. We’re starting off right with the Standard Juke frame. I want people to have a solid, simple frame that they won’t have to worry about breaking. I’ve seen Standard parts break… but it’s a century after they’re made.

The Juke frame will be available in any color/custom schemes, and any top tube length. 75 degree head tube angle, 13.5 rear end slammed, mid bottom bracket, 7.5 seat tube height and integrated head tube. You have to run a wedge post with this frame. I’m working with AVE to make a Juke one piece wedge seat, that’ll be a little later though.

Tree & Leaf is making Juke shirts in OKC and Brian McAnulty is making aluminum Juke pegs in Austin, TX.

Juke is not a company… it’s just a word representing something. It’s not just about BMX, this is just where it’s starting. Juke is everything good in the world. Juke is every moment you’re having fun. It’s the JUKE LIFE.

Billy Woodfin and I are about to hit the road for a year and half. We’re gonna hit up every major city and everything in between to cover the people out there jukin’. Everything will be posted on www.JukeTheEarth.com Photos, videos and stories from this country first… then after that, we’re going to travel the world to keep it going. Well keep everything updated on the site… where we’re heading next, where we’ve been and who’s been jukin’. If you see we’re about to come through your town, and you got some fun stuff to juke, let us know so you can show us around. JUKE!

Anyway, back to this beautiful frame… It will be available in a few months for $369. We’re not trying to blow anyone’s mind or create something new. We just want people to have a clean strong machine when they’re out there jukin’ the earth. It’s been amazing to work with Rick on this, and I’m excited that he’s just as pumped as I am on Juke. I don’t know what else to say besides thank you. Thank you to all of the people who showed me how to be, and thank you to the people who showed me how not to be. Thanks to Russell Wadlin for hooking me up with Rick. None of this would have happened if it wasn’t for that moment. Russell is a prime example of a juker by the way.

I think I was only supposed to talk about the frame in this. Haha. Anway… JUKE.”
